Since its inception in 2014, our IndieGrant program has helped 27 short film projects evolve from the page, into production, and onto the screen by providing Memphis filmmakers over $250K in monetary funds and in-kind filmmaking services. As Indie Memphis and the local film community continue to evolve, filmmakers can expect to see IndieGrant opportunities do the same.
 

The IndieGrant program provides Memphis filmmakers with cash and in-kind filmmaking services to produce quality, made-in-Memphis short films.


What is available?
 Two $15,000 production grants ($7,500 Cash + *$7,500 in-kind rentals and services*)
 All film categories are welcome to submit. Three film industry professionals from outside of Memphis will act as the selection jury to choose the two recipients regardless of category.
 Categories include documentary short, narrative short, proof-of-concept short film (for a feature film that is in-development), experimental, animation short.


REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR SUBMISSION
 PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE SUBMITTING ALL OF THE REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR THE TYPE OF FILM THAT YOU ARE PROPOSING:
 

  • Completed application.
  • Sample of prior film work. Must not exceed 15 minutes in length. Please provide a direct link (Vimeo preferred) - with working password, if applicable. 
  • Film Budget. You may either submit your own budget OR download our budget template to use. Template link and instructions can be found within the application.

Script, detailed treatment, or lookbook. Narrative fiction submissions (including proof of concept) must include a script that does not exceed 15 pages. Documentary, Experimental, or other submissions must include a treatment (no longer than 5 pages in length) or visual lookbook of the proposed film.
